The Grassroots Wildland Firefighters Committee
Advocating for change, fighting the status quo…
Federal Wildland Firefighter Policy Proposal:
To the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and whom it may concern:
Over the past year, a group of current and former Forestry Technicians (Wildland Firefighters) have come together to advocate for change within our community. This group is dedicated to the “boots on the ground”, particularly federally appointed Forestry Technicians, to implement real change from the top to the bottom of the chain of command. This committee is composed of both current and former Forestry Technicians (Wildland Firefighters). The committee is made up of current and former Fire Management Officers, Hotshot superintendents, Smokejumpers, experts in fire management, and people that are passionate for fair and ethical treatment of our nation’s Wildland Fire Workforce .
We are proposing a paradigm shift and policy change that will directly and positively affect the current workplace environment and the lives of those that serve the United States. This is a working document and we are seeking your assistance in taking the hard right over the easy wrong. The proposal is intended to benefit the American public and those that serve to protect them and act as stewards of the land.
Sincerely,
The Grassroots Wildland Firefighter Committee
